The Belly
My belly has become an entity of its own. I kid you not. I told Chad the other day, it is to the point where people gawk and when they now ask when I am due, it is more an exclamation like they want to follow it up with "it must be tomorrow!" So...I am taking a cue from my friend Carrie who posted her top 10 at 39 weeks....things people have said that they basically should have kept to themselves (many of which she will find familiar). Here it goes in a countdown fashion:
TOP 9 at 39:
9. You are just all belly aren't you?
(Why yes it appears that way but there is more to me than that).
8. It looks like you have a basketball under your shirt.
(Yep, and it pretty much feels as hard as one as I try to bend over).
7. Ooohh, it must be hard carrying him around like that. (in reference to my 2 year old son).
(Yep, its not comfortable but unless you plan on taking him out of my hands right now, I don't have a choice so seriously, move out of the way to I can put him down sooner).
6. You are really getting big.
(Generally that happens when you are growing a human inside of you but thanks for letting me know).
5. Do you need help? You look like you are out of breath.
(That's because I AM!! - There is no more room in my body for this child!)
4. So do you think its twins? Its an awfully big belly...
(It's not twins but thanks for making me feel even more insecure about how fast I am growing).
3. You don't even look pregnant from behind.
(With this one, I can't complain...it really is a compliment that I am not huge all over and probably this is the one I do hear and have heard the most consistently...in fact, it should be on the list of the "nice things people say" except for one thing. Said by people I know, it is kind and complimentary. However, in public it is often prefaced with a look of SHOCK accompanied with a gasp or a very audible WOW! I have had many a stranger react so startled when I turn around that they MUST comment on the size of my belly and how they had no idea until I turned around and BAM! there I was. Nicely put people.)
2. You are already WAY bigger than you ever were with Gavin. (said to me as early as 6 months)
(And you are way bigger than you were last Christmas...at least I have an excuse).
1. You are so small....(20 minutes later)...You know what I said earlier? Yeah, I take it back, you are not small at all.
(Excuse me, did you just take more time out of your day to correct yourself and to tell me that you take back the NICE thing you said?? Are you kidding me? Why didn't you just let it go? Now instead of making my day, you have topped as my #1 most inappropriate comment. Way to go.)
All that being said...thank you to all of you who have been complimentary during my pregnancy whether you meant it or not...telling me I am small and cute and glowing and beautiful. Those comments are what cancels out all the others. As I have always said: flattery will get you everywhere with a pregnant woman...well, at least this one.

You really look great Jen! You're almost there!
You look SO cute! Seriously, wish I was that cute when I was at the end. Definitely all belly. :)
By the way, just showed Taylor and she has predicted you will be having a girl. Well actually, she said girl... no boy, no girl. Zach was more concerned with Gavin's toy in the background, and he said "My ball". At first, I thought he was talking about the belly. :)
Haha, that was funny... maybe I will have to follow suit when I get closer to the end! And I will stick with my comment that you look smaller to me than you did with Gavin. Seriously, just think of my hugeness with Jackson! :) You look great and cannot wait to meet the little one!
