Aruba 2009-2010 Part I

This year for our Christmas trip, we went to Aruba with the whole Yonker clan--with Sydney as a new addition this year, the final count was 33 people. It was such a fun trip. Gavin loved playing with cousins and we had a VERY difficult time getting him out of the pool...sand...ocean...etc. He was just nonstop. This was Syd's first big trip and she was great--I think she loved baring her little skin in the warm breeze and not being covered up. The travel was a challenge...not only did we have tons to pack but the flight was 5-6 hours. Gavin had a major meltdown on the way there which didn't start our week out well but he quickly recovered. On the way back, it took us 3 hours to get through security so again, not a fun part of traveling. However, we survived the travel, the sleeping in a room together, the two hour time change and all the other things that come with it. And in it all, we had lots of fun with family and had a great week away where it was 90 degrees everday (insert longing sigh here). Obviously, I have a million photos and I could barely eliminate so they're in two separate posts....

Packing...double stroller, 100+ diapers, 3 suitcases (maxed at 50 lbs) and we were ready to go.
Lounging in the water.

Digging in the sand.

Babygirl and I.

Gavin thought he was a "big kid" sitting in the back of the bus with his cousins.
This is how Syd enjoyed our day trip...not to different from how she would have enjoyed it about 2 months ago...all tucked away in there.

Two explorers.

Kyle, Heather & Harry.

Sam, Bea, Addie and Gavin...he just LOVES them.

Beautiful Aruba.

That's a tall cactus.

Beautiful waterfront...which we were told is FULL of hammerhead sharks.

And because of the aforementioned picture, this one makes my hands sweat and bile rise in my throat a little bit. Thanks Uncle Chad.

Heather and I are our two babies -Harry & Sydney.

Dancing to the beat of their own drums.

Kabitzing on the beach.

86 year old lovebirds.

The "newest" lovebirds.

We had some very atypical rain--caused a flood on the beach.

This was our beachfront--a result of enormous waves crashing on shore.

Sydney let those thighs breathe on the beach.

Grandma and Gavin discussing their wave hopping game plan.

Here it comes...

...closer....

....crash!

They LOVE it!!

Yeah, that's smart Grandpa.

Doing a little light reading on the beach.

Harry getting down and dirty in the sand.

My two boys playing in the saltwater.

Well, that's one method to avoid the crash.

Mom & Gavin having a special drink...of the virgin variety of course.

Great pictures! How fun was it to have little summer clothes to put Syd in. Glad you guys survived the craziness of traveling and had a good time!

that looks glorious! Props to you for traveling with the kiddos. Looks like you had a great time with just a few bumps in the road. :)
